How should I prepare for session?
Things to keep in mind:
–Cancel your appointment immediately if you feel sick, have flu-like symptoms, have a contractible disease or fever. You will be refused service if you are sick.
-You should avoid eating 1 hour prior to massage. This prevents feeling nauseous while the therapist compresses/moves various tissues.
–Wear loose fitting clothing if you want a sports massage (involving stretching and increasing range of motion)
–Remove necklaces, make-up, jewelry, and contacts (you may be face-down in a headrest, which may irritate your eyes with contacts)
-Limit/avoid alcohol and recreational drug use after a massage session – your body is more susceptible to external stimulants/depressants after a session – you may quickly experience intoxication.
What do you specialize in?
I specialize in:
–Intuitive Cranial Sacral Therapy (working intuitively to unwind the body where it holds tension and/or buried emotion, encourage the natural ebb and flow of cerebrospinal fluid, and clear/repair the energy field)
–Therapeutic massage (finding knots/tension), and helping reduce anxiety.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes and yes.
What are the prices for your services?
Can I stop the session if I’m uncomfortable?
Absolutely. You can stop the session at anytime. Depending on the circumstances you may still need to pay for entire the session.
What is cupping, and does it hurt?
Cupping is a myofascial technique that uses suction cups to increase circulation to a dense area on the body, and depending on the session and the intensity, it can be uncomfortable and feel like intense suction or a pinch in tenser areas. Cupping may also leave red – deep red marks on the area called petechia. It is up to you to communicate with your therapist your level of discomfort so they can modify the level of intensity. If you are concerned about the reddening of the area you can ask for a lighter cupping massage – the therapist can use much lighter suction and constantly move the cups, rather than keep them stationary.
*It is not recommended to have cupping if your are on blood thinners. If in doubt, avoid this modality.
What is gua sha?
Gua sha is a myofascial technique that increases circulation by smoothing out fibrotic or scar tissue by using a smooth edged tool to apply pressure in a sheering pattern to the area. There may be reddening of the skin with red “flecks” called petechia. The reddening should dissipate in time.
What does energy work feel like?
Energy work, when ethically and responsibly performed with intention for your highest good, assists your emotional, spiritual, and physical healing. If you feel emotionally heavy, are experiencing anxiety, have past upsetting events you hold on to, try some energy clearing to help you process.
You do not have to be an energy worker or a psychic to reap the benefits of energy work. Many people report feeling a sense of peace and bodily lightness, while others may experience a vivid journey processing deep emotions or traveling across the cosmos and lifetimes. Each session is unique and may feel different. The therapists’ intension is to assist you to heal yourself.
*NOTE: ENERGY WORK DOES NOT REPLACE PSYCHOLOGICAL OR MEDICAL INTERVENTION. IF YOU HAVE A MEDICAL EMERGENCY PLEASE CALL A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL OR 911.
Are you LGBTQI+ friendly?
Absolutely.
Do you work with children/minors?
Yes, from 8 years old and up. If the minor is 16 and younger a guardian must be present in the room for the session. 17-18 year olds may have a guardian’s permission to have a session by themselves. Gauging their attention span and patience, a 30 minute sessions may suite younger children best.
What if I need to cancel right before my session?
Emergencies and unforeseen events happen. Such is life. There is no charge if you cancel at least 24 hours prior to your session.
However, in the event you need to cancel at the last minute, you may be charged the full price for your session. You have the option of finding someone to take your session’s time slot – this honors the therapists time and respects reserving precious space for another client who could have scheduled.
Is the massage sexual?
NO.
The intension with our massages and energy work is therapeutic. Although you experience various levels of undress and undraping limbs during the massage, there is NO sexual intent. The therapist may be drawn to address tension/disfunction around sensitive areas. It is your responsibility to communicate areas that you would like the therapist to avoid.
